Come and discover the Mas of Capelou, a charming 17th century country mansion nestling in a magnificent 2ha domain of orchards.
Located on the island of Barthelasse, facing the Cité des Papes, you will be in the heart of Provence and its numerous places of interest.
The Mas is 5 mn (6 km) from Avignon Old City center.
For a quiet and pleasant stay, choose :
- Either of our two rooms :
" Beguin " (double bed -160cm wide) or " Mantille " (double bed -160cm wide), each with its private toilet and shower (Bed and Breakfast).
- our family room,
" Canotier " (double bed -160cm wide), with its bathroom (shower and little bath for children), private toilets and 3 single beds (90 cm wide) (Bed and Breakfast).

- our suite,
" Capeline " (queen-size bed -180cm wide), with its bathroom, separate toilets and a small lounge
(with sofa bed), opening onto its private terrace (Bed and Breakfast).

" Gibus ", an air-conditioned, self contained duplex, with its own kitchen, bathroom and living- dining room.
The 30m² bedroom is equipped with one double bed (160cm wide) and one single bed (90cm wide).
There is also a sofa bed in the living room (110 cm wide)
Breakfasts, bed sheets and towels not included.

For your enjoyment, the swimming pool (18m x 7m), the pool house equipped with a barbecue and a car park are at your disposal.
Barthelasse island : Situated in the heart of rural Provence and in the middle of the Rhône : From Barthelasse island you have a clear unobstructed view of the famous Avignon Bridge. It’s the biggest river island in France, a green oasis just overlooking a famous tourist attraction. Wheat fiels stand next to orchards, for 400 of the island’s 700 hectares are under cultivation.
Today why not make us of the cycle tracks to discover the banks of the Rhone, with its ducks, herons and lines of white poplars. The streets- “chemin des poiriers”(Peartree avenue) “chemin des pêcheurs (fisherman’sway) or “ chemin des vignes (the Vineyard road)- so many paths are found on the island, crossing and fields, separated by rows of pine trees.
A “must” is halt at “la Reboule” to buy “bygone” vegetables- corgettes “de Nice”, white aubergines, ‘Saint Peter” tomatoes, or “rose de Berne”, - in fact 120 varieties of fruit and vegetables are available- straight from our grandparents’time.
Not to be missed :
A picnic at the end of the island under the shade of the white poplar trees to watch and listen to the sound of the birds which nest along the banks of a small lagoon between the two arms of the Rhone.
Access
Highway A7 : Exit at Avignon North or South and take direction Avignon centre and Villeneuve - l es Angles
Highway A9 : Exit at Roquemaure - Tavel and take direction Avignon centre and Villeneuve-lez-Avignon.
Take the Daladier bridge , and cross once the Rhône river. Then turn right in the direction of the Island of Barthelasse via CD 228
Drive up 2kms alongside the Rhône river (2kms) to the roundabout and then follow road signs ”Mas de Capelou”
